Three more...Moongil Kottai, RaajaThilagam and Kadigai
Moongil Kottai by Sandilyan
This story is about how chera thalapathy's son Ilamaaran rescues Chera king who is kept under imprisonment in a Moongil kottai(bamboo fort) by Pandiyan Nedunchezhian. Ilamaaran and Pandiyan Nedunchezhian's sister Imayavalli fall in love with each other at the same time.
Raaja Thilagam by Sandilyan
This story is about Pallava king Paramesuvaran, his son Raaja Simman(also named as Narasimha pallavan who was one of the famous pallava king),a chinese Yang- chin,Maivaizhi selvi(a spy's daughter and love interest of Raaja simman), Rangapathaaga Devi(daughter of Ganga king Poovikraman and also another love interest of Raja simman), Aacharya Dandi, Vikramadityan(Chalukya King), his son Vinayaadithan and his grandson Vijayadithan, and Sri Raamapunyavallabar(Chalukya's war and peace minister, as he is called). Raaja simman is also a great sculptor and builds two famous temples - Aranga naadhar temple in Kanchi and Arangan temple in Kadal mallai(Mahabalipuram). Yang-chin is from China's Royal family who comes to Raja simman with a request to build a Buddha temple and becomes Raja Simman's good companion.
Vikramadithan comes to South to take revenge as his capital city Vaathapi was destroyed by Narasimma pallavan for the sake of his lover Sivakami who was taken away by Chalukya king(Read Sivagamiyin Sabadham by Kalki). But as he respects art, he doesn't destroy the city Kanchi but just wants to win the pallavas in war and take up their country.
In this story, there is reference to Acupuncture, which is introduced by the Chinese prince Yang- chin to pallavas to cure the battlewounds.
Kadigai by Baalakumaran
I didn't like this book much but this tells about how Pandiya's Aabathudhavi padai(which is mentioned in lot of historical books) were formed. This talks about Ravidhaasan,Baalagopan, Pandya King Veerapandiyan, Chola prince Aaditya Cholan(who killed Veerapandiyan. Aaditya Cholan was the son of Sundara Cholan and elder brother of Raja Raja Cholan alias Arunmozhi).

Dude! Have you turned this blog into one exclusively for book-review?
And blog regularly.
SO...
All these books.. do they fill up the fantasic space that are found between historical facts or are they just fantastic?...
S Munch, I fell in love with Tamil literature. But recently, after these I also read "The Raiders" by Harold Robbins and am reading "The girl who loved Tom Gordon" by Stephen King.
True Vanathi. I am enjoying it.
Jinguchakka, the only thing happening (or the only happening thing) worth writing has been reading books.
Iris, they are just fantastic as well as they fill up the fantastic space that are found between historical facts by being fantastic. Now how does this sound? Fantastic naa!
good. so that keeps u busy and hence not mailing much?
M.K - I have read it. Twice. But when I read the 2nd time, I thot it is a new novel - so it captures ur attention only that much. Too much of hype.
R.T - no idea.
the last book - sounds like Pon Selvan extracts.

I have read Raja Thilagam.
Its a book whom every book reader wish to read.
It is not just an Historical Novel but shows the charecters of the Kings.
Eventhough Raja Simha pallavan was the Hero, u will feel Vikramaditya equal to him due to his Characters.
It also shows how the Kings have the respect to each other and prises each other and how it has become unfortunate for them to be enemies instead of friends.
Nice book to read for book lovers.
I have read all the books of Chandilyan and anybody wants to discuss u can do it on muralibalasubramanian.blogspot.com
Regards
B Murali
